Winter snow brings the opportunity to experience 75 fantastic downhill ski runs at Granite Peak Ski Area, the popular cross-country ski trails at Nine Mile Forest, 750 miles of groomed snowmobile trails in Marathon County, and the longest tubing runs in the state at Sylvan Tubing Hill. With warmer weather comes golfing, hiking and biking on the trails of our beautiful parks, fishing, swimming, sailing, boating or canoeing on the rivers and lakes. Summer is filled with festivals, concerts, and plenty of reasons to stay outdoors as long as possible. The brilliant reds, dappled yellows and vibrant oranges of the changing leaves are the perfect backdrop for enjoying your favorite fall activities and the annual pilgrimage to the top of Rib Mountain to witness the panoramic view of the breathtaking colors of the Wisconsin River valley.

The Wausau area is a great choice for a leisurely vacation or a weekend retreat.
