RACINE COUNTY, WI

Welcome to Racine County Wisconsin and the wealth of activities that we have to offer. Each year we uncover something special to add to our list of attractions and fun, along with old favorites.

Located 25 miles south of Milwaukee and 75 miles north of downtown Chicago, this charming Wisconsin county stretches from the picturesque and majestic shores of Lake Michigan, west to the peaceful inland lakes and gently flowing waters of the Fox River.

Hop into your vehicle for a relaxing ride along the 60 miles of serene Rustic Roads that wind through the rolling hills and tree lined country roads, which will not only transport you back in time but will show you a quiet side of the county that remains almost unchanged.

To get the most out of your visit, plan an overnight stay in one of our fine campsites, motels, hotels or bed & breakfasts. Reel in a trophy salmon or trout on a Lake Michigan fishing charter or break out the night crawlers and fill your stringer with panfish and bass on an inland lake. Whether you catch it or not, you can always enjoy in a Wisconsin tradition- the Friday night fish fry.

Downtown Racine is alive with new stores and fabulous dining options. A visit to the Racine Art Museum(RAM), one of North America’s top collections of contemporary crafts, is a must see. Shop for your own art in the numerous galleries in downtown or relax on the waterfront with Racine’s fine cuisine and drink.

History, art and architecture lovers will find that, in Racine County, the spirit of the flamboyant Frank Lloyd Wright has not only influenced the skyline but also generations of builders. Retrace the path of Wright as he pioneered the "Prairie" style of architecture. Wright forged a lasting relationship with the H.F. Johnson family, founders of the world-renown Johnson Wax Company and designed masterpieces that have won a place in the area’s history.

Learn about our rich history, including the manufacturing of Case Tractors, In-Sink-Erator food waste disposers or the impressive line of household products of SC Johnson (formerly Johnson Wax), all which saw their humble beginnings and still remain strong right here in Racine County.

If you like festivals, you are in the right spot. Whether it’s jazz over a picnic by moonlight, scrumptious ethnic specialties and dancing or catering to your craving of chocolate, Racine County has a menu full of fun for the entire family! Large music festival to exciting dragon boat racing, this county knows how to show a good time.

No trip to Racine County would be complete without enjoying the feathery layers of buttery Danish pastry, known as kringle. Filled with fruit and sweet nut fillings, this delicacy is known the world over and can be enjoyed at any number of area bakeries. Pecan outsells all other flavors combined, with one bakery claiming to use over 15 tons of pecans per year, most of which goes into kringle.
