Port Angeles is the Center Of It All for the Olympic Peninsula. The place to start for a day trip to Hurricane Ridge or a vacation to explore all of Olympic National Park. The place to start for kayaking, for biking, for hiking, for shopping or for relaxing.
Port Angeles is the center of a trip to Victoria, a trip to the Pacific beaches or a trip to the lavender fields of neighboring Sequim, and it's the center of it all when it comes to experiencing all that the Olympic Peninsula has to offer. There is a multitude of activities to be found outdoors in the area including scuba diving, kayaking, hiking, biking and birding. Click here for a full list of outdoor activities. Port Angeles is also the gateway to Olympic National Park, and the city's
location makes it a natural jumping-off point for the wonders of the
Olympics. The park boasts 922,000 acres of stunning alpine and coastal
wildernes, as well as a variety of camping, trails and other recreational opportunities. Don't miss Hurricane Ridge, Lake Crescent and the
Upper Sol Duc.
While you're in town, you can also spend a few hours—or a few days—exploring the local wineries of the
Olympic Peninsula. These unique, small barrel, boutique style wineries
offer a distinctive taste of the northwest regions finest grapes. Or witness a mixture of active and retired professional musicians from all over the Olympic Peninsula come together to perform as the Port Angeles Symphony Orchestra. Before or after the symphony, dine at one of Port Angeles’ fine restaurants.
You can choose from 4-star to fast-food. Seafood, ethnic, eclectic,
steak-house—your visit to Port Angeles will be memorable in culinary
ways also. Several of the local bars and restaurants offer live bands
or karaoke on a regular basis.
And if you're traveling with a Twilight fan (perhaps after a stop in Forks, Washington), grab a "bite" at Bella Italia and be sure to check out the local bookstore, Port Book and News—and Port Angeles' new store, the aptly named Dazzled by Twilight.
