Getting Here
Chesapeake sits nestled in the heart of the dynamic Hampton Roads region, easily accessible by car, plane or train. Thanks to our convenient location on I-64, with access to I-95 and I-85, Chesapeake is an easy drive within the mid-Atlantic region. We’re three hours from both Raleigh, NC and Washington, DC, and minutes from downtown Norfolk and the sands of Virginia Beach. Norfolk International Airport offers nearly 200 daily arrivals and departures.
It’s Fun Out Here
Though filled with big city amenities and conveniences, the truly unique pull to Chesapeake is all natural. So while we’ve taken care of the creature comforts, Mother Nature has outdone herself with treats for all your senses.
Picture 4,000 acres of pristine parks, canoeing the city’s scenic rivers and sailing the historic Atlantic Intracoastal Waterway. Imagine a seasonal boat tour of The Great Dismal Swamp. Commune with nature at Northwest River Park, one of many places where you can hike, bike, paddle, camp and fish.
Got an eye for wildlife? Chesapeake is filled with opportunities, beginning with the South Chesapeake Loop of the Virginia Birding and Wildlife Trail. Spy nuthatches, warblers, great herons and some four-legged friends.
Military Time
Of course, the area is filled with military and historical options. Many Civil War and Revolutionary War sites are here, while the Atlantic Fleet, the Naval Base, the USS Wisconsin and numerous Historic tours are nearby. And, Colonial Williamsburg, Jamestown and Yorktown are just 45 minutes away. Other major attractions include Busch Gardens, The Virginia Aquarium and Water Country USA.

For shopping ‘til you drop, try Greenbrier Mall and Chesapeake Square Mall, or find treasures along “Antique Alley.” New this year is TownePlace at Greenbrier, an exciting destination center featuring restaurants, upscale retail and an outdoor plaza for dining and concerts.
Portlock Galleries at SoNo displays a sense of the local arts scene, while you’re also close to renowned museums and a contemporary art center. Professional baseball, hockey and soccer offer exhilarating diversions.

For the athletes in your family, check out Chesapeake Skate Park for boarders and in-line skaters, Chilled Ponds Ice Sports Complex, the Chesapeake Golf Club and The Isles Golf Links at Cahoon Plantation.
