History was made here. Morristown is where Davy Crockett grew up. It was a center of some of the more strategic battles of the Civil War. It is and was the "Crossroads of Dixie," where the main roads from Knoxville to Baltimore and the famous Buffalo Trail from Cumberland Gap cross. Morristown is also the home of Rose Center, the regional cultural and performing arts center, Crockett Tavern and Museum and the brand new lakeside Citizen-Tribune/Jefferson Federal Amphitheatre at Cherokee Park.

Whether you enjoy the exploring the great outdoors, experiencing history firsthand, or just sitting on the front porch and relaxing, Morristown and Hamblen County offers something for everyone.

Sportsmen know us as the "Lakeway Area" with both Cherokee and Douglas Lakes in our backyard; we're a boater and fisherman's summer paradise. If you don't feel like fishing, you can water ski, swim, or just lounge in the sun.

Morristown is home to two parks, pristine Panther Creek State Park, located just west of Morristown, and beautiful Cherokee Park, to the north. Bordering Cherokee Lake, these two parks offer a variety of walking, hiking, horseback riding, mountain bike and nature trails.

If golf is your game, you'll feel right at home because there are more than 30 golf courses within a 50 mile radius of Morristown, ranging from fun 9 hole courses to a challenging 7,200 yard championship course that was host to the Tennessee PGA Tournament.

And, if that's not enough to keep you busy, within an hour's drive there's the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, Cumberland Gap National Historic Park, the breathtaking Blue Ridge Parkway, Rocky Mount, Sycamore Shoals, the bustling city of Knoxville and the resort communities of Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge.

Above all, we want you to feel at home. You'll find our folks are among the friendliest anywhere. With our mild climate, beautiful lakes, and abundant history and heritage, it's no wonder so many people who've come to visit have come back to stay.
