CECIL COUNTY, MD

Stay At Home & Make Memories

Looking for some great family fun? You can find it in Cecil County, Maryland!

Cecil County offers small town history and beautiful countryside. Shimmering harbors border five rivers, the C&D Canal and Chesapeake Bay. Take a drive along one of our scenic byways to see manor homes, historic churches, Civil War signs and inns where folks like George Washington hung their hat. Visit the C&D Canal Museum in its original pump house, or Mt Harmon — a tobacco plantation with a breathtaking view. Tour Upper Bay Museum or Sinking Springs Herb Farm that features a log cabin farmhouse. Hike a trail that’s part of the Lower Susquehanna Heritage Greenway in historic Perryville and Port Deposit. Rent a boat out of lovely Charlestown. Visit attractions on the farm. Spend time making furry friends at our country zoo. Stroll the streets of Elkton’s Arts & Entertainment District. Drive your golf ball from the tee of one of our five golf courses. And launch your kayak at two beautiful waterfront parks in Perryville and North East, or along the banks of the Bohemia River.

Historic S. Chesapeake City has picturesque 19th century homes, most of which were built along the banks when the canal opened in 1829. Today, ships and pleasure vessels from around the globe slip through the canal and beneath the town’s majestic bridge. Quaint shops, waterfront restaurants with marvelous regional menu items, a tour boat and charming inns await your visit.

The riverside Town of North East offers neighborly charm and the feel of “Main Street USA.” You’ll find unique gift and antique shops, fabulous restaurants, a museum about the Upper Bay and a basket factory where craftsmen hand weave oak baskets as they have for generations. You can enjoy a shopping break for gourmet coffee, homemade chocolates or ice cream, all in this charming town.

If you love the great outdoors, Cecil has two magnificent state parks. Take a trail ride on horseback, hike through the woods, go on a biking journey, launch your boat, drop a fishing line to nab a catch, enjoy nature photography, see the breathtaking view from Turkey Point Lighthouse or bask in the sunshine at a Sandy River Beach.

Be sure to save time throughout the year to try our unbelievable restaurants located in all corners of the county. You’ll find an array of menu specialties that will make your mouth water. Regardless of if your taste buds are craving steamed crabs and seafood, gourmet specialties, down-home family entrees, ice cream made fresh on the farm, a sizzling steak, the perfect sandwich or an upscale dining experience, you’ll find it right here in Cecil County — along the waterfronts, out in the country, on the farm and in historic parts of town.

You’ll find family-friendly events all year long, including street fairs, waterside festivals, horse races, Scottish competitions, holiday happenings, seasonal activities, dog agility trials and an international Olympic level equestrian competition.

Making Memories in Cecil County is easy!
