HOPKINS COUNTY, KY

Madisonville – Hopkins County

Whether traveling here on business, visiting with family and friends or just taking a break from the hustle and bustle of your busy life, Hopkins County is truly a great place to be.

Hopkins County, Kentucky is located in the heart of Western Kentucky and is conveniently located 49 miles south of Evansville, Indiana, 104 miles northwest of Nashville, Tennessee, and 153 miles southwest of Louisville, Kentucky. This community is a progressive one with diverse industry and technology seasoned with Southern hospitality, making the area a wonderful place to work, raise a family and visit. Residents are always eager to elaborate that we have the best of both worlds, the quaintness of a small Southern town with all the amenities of a larger city.

If you time your visit just right, you might find yourself in the middle of one of the many festivals or activities, including the Hanson Village Arts Fair, the Antique Tractor and Mule Days Festival, Dawson Springs Bar-B-Q Fest, Morton’s Gap Coalfield Festival, Friday Night Live in downtown Madisonville or Return to Bethlehem. Returning in September of 2010 is the Kentucky Wood Expo with professional lumberjacks, log rolling, pole climbing and wood industry related exhibits. Some of the other popular attractions include the Glema Mahr Center for the Arts with such entertainment as Marie Osmond or Garrison Keillor, the Anne P. Baker Gallery, Western Kentucky Speedway and the former Governor Ruby Laffoon’s log cabin. The shopping enthusiasts will find numerous antique shops and unique boutiques, as well as mall shopping at Parkway Plaza Mall. If enjoying the wonders of nature is what you love, then you must visit the Pennyrile Nature Trail — a 13-mile hiking trail that stretches from the Pennyrile Forest State Resort Park to the edge of Dawson Springs. Canoeing the Tradewater River and boating on Lake Beshear are also a “must do.”

While in Hopkins County, we highly recommend that you plan to stay a few nights. If a bed and breakfast is what you had in mind, then you have definitely come to the right place. We offer three choices of B&B’s and each is unique in its own way. However, if you are the traveler who prefers the standard hotel accommodations, you will not be disappointed in what we have to offer.

The Hopkins County Tourist & Convention Commission enthusiastically invites you to get away with us for a few days to relax and enjoy the good things in life.
