BRANDON, MB Come and visit Brandon, Manitoba, Canada where from the moment you arrive you’ll feel like you belong here. Similar to the majority of Canada, Brandon shares a very diverse culture, which is usually boasted when the city hosts the Lieutenant Governor’s Winter Fest the beginning of every February. At the festival, there are over 14 pavilions that provide plenty to eat and drink from every possible culture. Although there are no tours available for the indoor facilities, you should definitely take a scenic stroll around the grounds of the Brandon Research Centre, one of the original five experimental farms that helps to research land resource management in western Canada. They help to create sustainable crop and livestock production systems for the Parkland region. Another must-see is the Art Gallery of Southwestern Manitoba, a gallery located downtown. The gallery exhibits contemporary art of regional, national and international prominence with a focus on Manitoba artistry. There’s also the Brandon Hills Wildlife Management Area that hosts a variety of plant and animal species as well as serving as a haven for recreational activities like hiking, cycling, bird watching and cross-country skiing. Also there is the Manitoba Hydro Power Smart® Waterfall of Lights which is south of the Assiniboine River and between Eleanor Kidd Park and Queen Elizabeth Park. In the winter, the Manitoba Hydro Power Smart® Waterfall of Lights offers skating and cross-country skiing through extraordinary light displays. This venue is open from December through the end of February every year, weather permitting of course.
